Dr. Berkowitz graduated Maxima Cum Laude from LaSalle University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology.  He earned his M.D.  from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia in 1985. After earning his M.D., Dr. Berkowitz completed an internship at  at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Lansdowne, PA, and  then completed his Residency program at Abington Memorial Hospital.  Since 1988, Dr Berkowitz has taken care of over 25000 hospitalized in patients. Many of which had  a wide variety of various pain problems and addiction issues. In 1991 He opened his own private practice which he continues to run as Medical director to this very day.  


Dr. Berkowitz is a board certified physician who passed passed part II of the National Board of Medical Examiners Diplomat with distinction, scoring in the 86th percentile.  Dr. Berkowitz holds a Pennsylvania Medical License in addition to being licensed by the United States Drug Enforcement Agency.  In the last decade he was offered membership in both American Academy of Pain Medicine and the  American Society of Addiction Medicine.  He was accepted as a fellow of the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians. For the last 5 years, The Dea has given him  approval  to  give Suboxone treatment. Furthermore he has been  certified in advanced cardiac and trauma life support.

WHO IS  DR. BERKOWITZ? 

 Dr. Berkowitz has 3 children and currently resides in Huntingdon Valley. His oldest son Michael, graduated from Widener University Law school.  The middle child Briana, having recently completed her bachelor of arts in psychology at temple, is in the process of entering graduate school.  Adam the youngest is entering his senior year at Penn State University and is presently preparing to enter Law school. 

When his children were younger, Dr. Berkowitz served as the overnight camp doctor for more than a dozen years in which he treated several thousand campers.  Dr. Berkowitz has devoted a large part of his life to counseling  younger individuals from a diverse variety of socio-economic groups. He has mentored them in a number of different areas which included education, medicine, business, and sports. Dr. Berkowitz is dedicated to helping other people realize their potential by working with them to aid them in building a bright future for themselves, by having  them focuses on self-improvement. It is not uncommon for some of those mentored individuals to return some 10 years later and tell him that what they remember most about him was his  signature statement
